Time to grow up


 
 I despair at the constant stream of letters regarding reception of the Eucharist by the divorced and remarried and by interchurch couples. The underlying theme is that someone on high has to make decisions for us. The reality is, of course, that more and more married couples – whatever situation they find themselves in – make up their own minds about this matter, have done for years and, like contraception, no longer see it as an issue to be debated. They do not wear a badge of disclosure as they go up to Communion, and no priest I know has ever refused them God’s gift.We really do have to grow up and stop depending on others to make decisions for us as if we were still in infant school. Does it really matter what Archbishop Longley thinks, or anyone else for that
