Joanna Moorhead reports (News from Britain and Ireland, 20 June) that the Sisters of the Holy Family of Bordeaux (HFB) claim that they want to close the Hope Residential and Nursing Care Home in Cambridge because “the costs of upgrading the building are too great”. HFB and the Healthcare Management Trust (which runs the home on the nuns’ behalf) have not provided any evidence to the families of residents to show that this is the case. The Hope is a unique asset, considered excellent by the Care Quality Commission. The sisters have current investments of £23 million, and the Hope is profitable.
