Joanna Moorhead (“The Church chose to stop its equality clock”, 7 February) has certainly thrown a Molotov cocktail into the debate concerning women in the Church. She is absolutely right about the hierarchy that has endured over the past century. Pope Francis is valiantly trying to voice our concerns and raise our profile, but as she points out, is it too little too late?I am hopeful that the emerging generation of young women will see a sea change worthy of the calming by Christ of the Sea of Galilee. They will see their valid and important roles emerging and take their rightful place in the Church. The women in the early Church played such a significant role but were airbrushed out of history; this cannot be allowed to happen again.Judith A. Daniels, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
