Leave theory aside


 
Joanna Moorhead hits the nail right on the head when she points out that marriage exists as a concept within the Vatican, rather than as a lived reality (22 November). And how easy it is to be high-minded and prescriptive about concepts, especially those we do not have personal experience of – witness the near universal contempt currently for anyone who holds political power.But it is the consequences for those who cannot live up to the Church’s ideal that should trouble us here.
