Legislation has been enacted in recent decades out of sympathy for disparate minorities which has had destructive effects on society as a whole (“Questionable tactics”, 15 November)First there was the reform of the divorce laws: long overdue, for as they stood, they were farcical. The result: too easy divorce with sometimes sad effects on the children. Then there were the abortion acts: much needed, arguably, as previously, with back-street mangling, it seemed as if murder was being connived at. The result: abortion on demand.
