How devastating to hear that Pope Francis has approved yet another strong edict from the iron-fisted Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF).

The statement the Congregation has issued to the world is that gay unions are not to be granted a blessing by the Church. It entrenches the church teaching that God’s plan is for marriage to be between a man and a woman. The Congregation somehow knows that “God’s plan does not and cannot bless sin.” LGBT+ human beings are thus relegated to the sin-bin, condemned if they dare express their love. The Church’s claim of “welcoming and blessing” gay people rings hollow in the face of this cruel statement.
