The words “shock and awe” are normally associated with military doctrine but they capture the feelings of many at the news of the death of Louise Zanré Da Silva, who served for 14 years as director of Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) UK. There is shock at her sudden and untimely death caused by a blood clot. Louise was only 47 and, while she suffered from a long-term illness, her death was unexpected.
