The school: St Benedict’s is a comprehensive secondary in Suffolk for boys and girls aged between 11 and 18. The vast majority of pupils are white British and lower than average numbers qualify for the pupil premium for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2013 the school began to expand, for the first time offering Year 7 places. These are principally for children in Catholic primaries in West Suffolk who leave at the end of Year 6 (aged 11). By September 2016 it will have 900 pupils on the roll.Ofsted error: The school was the focus of controversy in 2014 when Ofsted incorrectly included it in a list of schools failing to promote British values.
