This article is most welcome. Alan Smith is quite correct in noting the re-hashing of 1990s myths and lies. I was a trade union rep in the retail sector in the early 1990s and well recall the spurious arguments, the bullying and arm-twisting of staff, the dissembling of politicians and some union officials.
Challenging this latest assault on the Sabbeth and family life presents a wonderful opportunity for meaningful ecumenical collaboration: hopefully we will not squander the opportunity - because we are out shopping.
