If the United States Supreme Court rules that Donald Trump, the current most likely 2024 Republican presidential nominee, is ineligible to run for his old job in the Oval Office, his lawyers argue that ‘chaos and bedlam’ will be unleashed.

 On 8 February the United States Supreme Court will hear arguments in a case most of the justices probably wish that they could have avoided. In Trump vs Anderson, the nine justices – three of whom were appointed by former President Donald Trump – will consider whether the Colorado Supreme Court erred in ruling that Trump must be excluded from the presidential primary ballot in that state for having engaged in insurrection.
