Christus Resurrexit

The Tablet poem

How much rain can roof-tiles take?
Rooms we have haunted all these months
are giving up the ghost, outside is breaking in.
Out of sync hearts skip and judder,
rail against their metre.

World is on the verge.
Cherries and crab-apples bead to the tips
of their branches. One optimistic palm tree
shivers in a yard. Daffodils in troughs
nod in assent to every drop.
