The first time Christine Allen worked for Cafod she was in her early twenties, fresh from the front line of justice and peace work in inner-city Liverpool; the way she tells it (and I’m sure she’s right), her passion, youth and vigour raised eyebrows among some of the overseas aid agency’s supporters. That was in 1989. Three decades on, Allen is back at Cafod this week as its director.
