As chaplains, we find ourselves in a unique position. We have the distinction of being seen as people who are often the first point of call for students in difficulty – because we are often known to them personally, but perhaps because talking to a chaplain is less intimidating than scheduling an appointment with someone “official”.
In the past few years I have noticed that students are under an extraordinary amount of pressure, both academically and socially. Some are becoming increasingly isolated, finding it difficult to relax and let go.
As a Catholic chaplaincy, we have a great role to play in the middle of this.
