Divided we fall


 

We talk about “echo-chambers” to describe the way we amplify our beliefs by only listening and talking to those who think like ourselves. Our prodigious array of social media has virtually abolished the physical distances between us but has done nothing to broaden the spectrum of our views.

The people I choose to follow on Twitter agree with my views and tend to like or retweet my views on spirituality, politics and church life. During the past two weeks, however, I have started following a number of people on Twitter whom I would struggle to agree with on most issues.
