Being in a ceilidh band throws up plenty of experiences, but nothing could prepare us for the motorway red kites. There we were, driving to Huddersfield for a barn dance, when our fiddler suddenly exclaimed: “Look!” His gesticulating finger guided us to three huge birds of prey floating low over the grassy embankment.
