School bells toll for Communion classes in Ireland
The Irish Government’s Department of Education and Skills is currently working on a new curriculum for primary schools that could see religion and sacramental preparation removed from the core curriculum. Classes related to religion would be placed in “flexible time”, leading many involved in Catholic schooling to worry it will be increasingly marginalised.
