I came to England from Nigeria with members of my extended family when I was still a teenager. I was told that everything would be fine when we arrived but that didn’t turn out to be the case. Within no time at all, I was abandoned in London.

 

I had to get a job so I could afford to eat and pay my rent. I wasn’t thinking about my legal status, I was just thinking about earning a living so I could survive. Soon after, I met someone and fell in love. But when I got pregnant he said he would not support me or our child.
