PAST EVENT: All God’s Children - a discussion about the Church’s ministry to LGBT Catholics and same-sex couples

 


Please join us for a discussion about the Church’s ministry to LGBT Catholics and same-sex couples, examining the steps which can be taken to better include all the People of God. The webinar will look at these questions in light of Amoris Laetitia, Pope Francis’ document on family life, which this year marks its fifth anniversary since publication.  

 Christopher Lamb, Rome Correspondent for The Tablet
will be hosting the event and be joined by the Bishop of Antwerp, Johan Bonny, Professor Lisa Cahill of Boston College, Massachusetts, Sr Gemma Simmonds, of the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge and James Alison a priest and theologian who has written widely on LGBT issues    

The event will take place on Zoom, on 28 April, 18.00-19.00 BST.

 Bishop Bonny
is a theologian who has worked in the Christian unity office in the Vatican. He attended the family synods in Rome and has called for the Church to offer blessings to same-sex couples.  

 Professor Lisa Cahill
is an award-winning moral theologian whose research has focused on family, sexuality and a range of ethical issues. 

 Sr Gemma Simmonds
is a theologian, a member of the Congregation of Jesus (founded by Mary Ward), a spiritual director and an expert in pastoral formation. 

 

 James Alison
is a priest and theologian who has written widely on LGBT issues. His theological work has focussed on the French thinker and social scientist René Girard, and he is a popular lecturer and retreat-giver
