Dr Clare Watkins is a Catholic lay theologian and Reader in Ecclesiology and Practical Theology at the University of Roehampton and one of the original developers of Theological Action Research.  Clare’s work has been in ecclesiology, sacramental theology and the theology of ecclesial practice. She has recently published Disclosing Church: an ecclesiology learned from conversations in practice – which concludes with a proposal for a ‘whole-theology’ approach which recognises practice as an entirely necessary and traditional element in faith’s seeking of understanding. She is Director of the Theology and Action Research Network and convener of the UK Network for Catholic Practice-engaged Theology.

Dr Nicola Brady is Chair of the Synodal Steering Committee of the Irish Catholic Church’s Synodal Pathway. Appointed by the Irish Bishops Conference at their Spring General Meeting Dr Brady has a PhD in Church history – examining the response of the Catholic hierarchy to political violence in Northern Ireland and the Basque Country (1921–1975). She is the General Secretary of the Irish Council of Churches and Joint Secretary of the Irish Inter-Church Meeting where she facilitates relationship-building between Christian Churches on the island of Ireland and collaborative action on issues of shared concern to member Churches. Nicola has particular expertise in the area of faith-based peace-building on the island of Ireland and internationally, including human rights advocacy, support to victims/survivors, facilitation of civic dialogue, community engagement with policing, and research across a broad range of issues relevant to reconciliation.
