The present state of party politics in Britain is not good for the country. The Conservatives are showing how much the Liberal Democrats kept them well grounded when they worked together in coalition.
Without that balancing factor, following the near annihilation of the Lib Dems in May, the Tories have made a series of misjudgements that deserved to be punished by a vigorous Opposition.
But Labour is in disarray.
It is so preoccupied with its own problems under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership that it is not providing a political force to be reckoned with by the party in power, so almost ensuring the Tories will succumb to hubris.
