Nature strikes back at humanity


 

If humanity insists on endlessly degrading the environment, the ultimate warning from the climate scientists is that Planet Earth could become uninhabitable. A clear picture of what this apocalyptic scenario might look like is beginning to emerge in the horrific scenes from Australia, as parts of New South Wales and Victoria are ravaged by forest and bush fires. A severe and prolonged drought accompanied by soaring temperatures, well above blood heat, have made large areas dry as tinder and extremely dangerous to live in. The approach of a huge forest fire, the deep roaring and the towering smoke and flames, driving animals to flee in terror ahead of it, has been likened to a vast living monster ravenously devouring everything in its path.
