When our arts editor Joanna Moorhead wrote about the plan to run a Tablet retreat in Umbria in the spring of this year, we wondered whether there would be much interest. The retreat, based at a gorgeous villa in the countryside near Arezzo, would focus on the life and legacy of St Francis of Assisi in this, the 800th anniversary year of his death.
Well, we didn’t need to worry about whether anyone would want to come. So many of you got in touch to say you’d like to be part of it, and so many of those who joined Joanna and fellow Tablet writer Peter Stanford told us after wards how much they’d enjoyed it and learnt from it, that they have agreed to stage a re-run. The dates for the next retreat are 10-17 October, and though most of the places are already taken, a few remain. Full details of what to expect are at villapia.com/st-francis-week/
