It’s that time of year again. Just when the summer songbirds have all flown south, and the world feels empty and silent without them, the winter guests have started to fly in from the north. Our first visitors arrived this week. We were in
the house when we heard what sounded like a pack of excited puppies scampering past. Thrusting open the window, we looked up to see a skein of geese passing high overhead. The shifting chevrons of their huge flock seemed to fill the sky – pink-footed geese.
