What can you see from your window? I’m guessing that it won’t top the view being currently enjoyed by the IBVM nuns at Llandudno. Living under the rise of the Great Orme, a limestone headland rich in wildlife, the Loreto convent is long used to spotting wheeling seabirds and the gentle flutter by of butterflies, but now the sisters are getting used to the mass invasion of wild goats. Descended from a single pair given to Queen Victoria by the Shah of Persia, a colony of goats has lived on the Welsh headland since the mid nineteenth century. Seizing the opportunity of a human lockdown, the herd have recently been moving down into the town itself.
