I picked another blackberry, and closing my eyes, popped it in my mouth. Then another. Then another. With each juicy fruit, the long, full days of summer seemed to burst in my mouth. Were they the best brambles I’d ever tasted? Strung out like barbed wire along the railway embankment by Thornaby station, these might not have been the most picturesque of blackberry bushes.
