We were walking through town on market day when a large, white bird flew over the cobbled square. The little egret sailed above the local British Legion brass band, continued over the customers queuing at the Viva las Vapor e-cigarette stall, and then, with a single rasping croak, lifted above the White Rose Book Café and headed back to the beck.
