Could we contemplate demolishing the present St Peter’s, and if not, why not?


 

There's something very beautiful halfway down the trafficky Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Rome. It’s a mosaic of the head of a crowned woman with pendant earrings, set against golden tesserae … I discovered the existence of the mosaic on Twitter.
