This book is a sustained tirade against a succession of individuals whom James O’Brien regards as having been responsible – in some cases by mistake or casual neglect, in others by malign intent – for what he regards as “acts of national self-sabotage”. His theme is that these highly undesirable individuals (principally, though not exclusively, Murdoch, Dacre, Neil, Elliott, Farage, Cameron, Corbyn, Cummings, Johnson and Truss) have “set the United Kingdom on a course of unnecessary domestic decline and international diminishment”.
