I read this superb little book during the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban. It was on every news bulletin, and it rammed home the suffering of refugees, so often brushed under our collective carpets. I was thankful for the book’s wisdom: though not at all political, it goes to the heart of the biblical injunction to care for the stranger in need, embedded in both Old and New Testaments. “I can’t think of a better way for those of us who are Christian to explore the issues … than from the perspective of Holy Scripture,” writes the author.
