Lockdown was painful for many reasons, not least because it deprived so many of us of contact with nature and the wider landscape. For me, poetry was the next best option.
Deep unto Deep (Caldey Island, £9.95) is verse of the sea. David Hodges is a monk at Caldey Island off south Wales, and his poems blend the ocean’s horizon and the rhythmic call of the waves with a distinctive, reflective, spiritual landscape “where solitude and silence speak / in the presence of the Word”.
