Candida Moss is a prolific and high-profile young scholar of the New Testament and early Christianity. She went from a first degree, in theology, at Oxford to Yale, and from there to Notre Dame. She is now Edward Cadbury Professor of Theology at Birmingham University. Best-known to academics for her revisionist book on Christian martyrdom, The Myth of Persecution, she also writes for numerous media platforms and is the co-author of Bible Nation, an intensively researched and hard-hitting critique of Hobby Lobby, the Green family enterprises and the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC, which deserves to be required reading. Her background has made her well qualified to comment on recent coverage of their dubious papyrological acquisitions. A Catholic, she is Papal News contributor to CBS News, and writes regularly for The Daily Beast and The Atlantic, among others.
