Progressing from controversy to controversy – salvation by faith in Christ is a mistranslation, he argues, and hell is a late invention by the Church – Chalke proclaims “nothing short of a revolution” for Christianity.

One might argue it is a slow-burning revolution, given that the NPP, from which he borrows heavily, has been a trend in theology since the 1970s.
