On October 3 in Assisi, Pope Francis will sign his new encyclical, Fratelli tutti. It is expected to focus on society in a post-Covid age, exploring further some of the issues he has been developing in his recent Wednesday general audiences. What is he hoping to achieve?

Will be he successful?

Is the title, which can be translated as “Brethren all” but in Italian arguably carries a more inclusive meaning of “brothers and sisters all”, a sexist title?

The Tablet's Rome correspondent Christopher Lamb discusses these questions and more with online editor Ruth Gledhill.
