In his extraordinary performance as Jackson Lamb, the mountainous, dishevelled, rejected, dyspeptic spy­master in the Apple TV+ drama Slow Horses, Gary Oldman seemed to be shadowing Shakespeare’s Falstaff

Instead, Oldman is now tackling another of drama’s lonely, shambolic, malodorous old men in Samuel Beckett’s 1958 monologue Krapp’s Last Tape.
