AS A PERFORMANCE poet, Luke Wright, (below) tends to operate in that extensively tilled field where the boisterous meets the splenetic: I once heard him recite a work about a specimen of Suffolk gentry called “The Bastard of Bungay”. Later Life Letter is, necessarily, a much more sober enquiry in which the presenter goes in search of the circumstances of his early life, helped by a letter of explanation written by his then social worker.
