Old pals act
“Do you want a glass of champagne?” Dame Judi Dench asks Sir Ian McKellen as they sit down in her cosy kitchen in Surrey.
But to Dench’s surprise (and disappointment?) McKellen doesn’t drink alcohol so they must have tea and parkin instead. He relies on hearing aids and she is so blind she can’t make out his face, but otherwise, at 91 and 87 respectively, they are in pretty good fettle.
