In this expensive American conspiracy thriller (28 June), Anna Friel plays Sgt Odelle Ballard, a Special Ops soldier working in Africa. When we first saw her, she was in Mali, where her colleagues had killed a wanted al-Qaeda man. She proved a dab hand at hoovering up information: on the man’s laptop she found evidence, in English, that an American corporation had paid $30,500,000 into the terrorists’ bank account. Quite something to stumble across.Naturally, she reported what she found and, this being a thriller of the paranoid variety, her team were immediately wiped out by other Americans. She survived, was captured, then forced to join a caravan heading to Timbuktu (disguised as a man), then discovered, then readied for death by stoning, then dragged off by some black-flag
