The latest instalment of Misha Glenny and Miles Warde’s “How to Invent a Country” franchise could scarcely have been more timely. Their three-part The Invention of ... Poland (28 March-11 April) began with the presenters en route from Warsaw to Krakov. Within minutes, most of the enterprise’s trademarked stanchions were in place, which is to say enthusiastic banter, ethnic music floating through the window and exotic migrants met along the path, the whole effortlessly combining to produce a splendid exercise in travelogue-cum-history.
