Voces8
Cadogan Hall, London
Some ensembles are all about chameleon reinvention: I Fagiolini, for example, Les Arts Florissants or the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir seem to morph into new singers with every new piece of repertoire. Others – The King’s Singers or The Sixteen – have a distinctive sonic mould into which all music is poured.
British vocal octet Voces8 are very much in the latter camp, its brand synonymous with a signature sound: impeccably tuned and blended, carefully controlled and calibrated for the studio. All of which means a change in personnel is a big moment for the small group, and with the arrival of soprano Molly Noon earlier this year, a new era begins, as part of the Choral at Cadogan series.
