I am on a journey that will take me from Christianity to Hinduism, via a forest whose origins go back to the Stone Age. I am on a journey through historic and contemporary art, a journey of exploration into how human beings make sense of their connection to their planet and their beliefs. I am on a journey through wisdom and ecology, faith and perseverance. I am on a journey from Victorian Anglicanism to 1980s Hinduism, via snatches of context about colonialism and migration, wealth and poverty. I am on this journey – on all these journeys – and yet geographically I am travelling perhaps half a kilometre, across a tiny snippet of east London.
