Live classical music, one of the hardest-hit sectors of the arts during the pandemic, has always been integral to Passiontide, and this year brings many opportunities to hear specially performed music online with some of the country’s leading musicians.
Today (Saturday 3 April) at 7 p.m., Manchester-based orchestra The Skaparis, founded and conducted by Simon Robertshaw, will be performing live from the Lighthouse Church in Salford. The programme features Les Élémens by Jean-Féry Rebel, Mozart’s “Violin Sonata in G major”, and Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Tickets for the 26-strong ensemble’s concert are available from www.skaparis.uk
