The original mission statement of the BBC – “to inform, educate, and entertain” – could be borrowed by Jury Games, one of the companies producing online interactive drama during lockdown.

Its first show, Jury Duty, brought together 12 players to take part in a Zoom trial – a fictional version of a factual development in the legal system during the pandemic – resulting from a death in a fire. The defendant pleaded guilty to arson, but denied murder. Players read/saw witness testimony and documentation before collectively reaching a verdict.
