Life Chances
BBC Radio 4
This hard-hitting five-part series (15-19 February) began with its presenter, the thirtysomething journalist Athar Ahmad, sitting down with his school leavers’ year book. The school in question was Acton High, west London, and the timeframe was 1998-2003. Just to ram home the point that change was in the air, the preamble came accompanied by clips of Tony Blair assuring enthusiastic crowds that opportunity now existed for all.
