The Documentary: Women in power

Part of the BBC’s “100 Women” strand, Mary Ann Sieghart’s wide-ranging two-part documentary (29 November) began with the sound of Kamala Harris welcoming her appointment as US vice president. The questions it aimed to answer were threefold. How did women obtain power? What barriers stood in their way? And what lessons could be learned from this march into boardrooms, trading floors, bicameral chambers and, in the case of Janet Yellen, the chairman’s office at the US Federal Reserve?
