Traverse Festival

A late August highlight for me has been rushing through Edinburgh’s morning rain to catch the Breakfast Plays at the Traverse Theatre – short dramas by new writers, the ticket price including a beverage and a bap.
Despite the cancellation of the Festival, the Breakfast Plays are still available this year, as is the downpour (unless you’re looking out of a very lucky window). You must provide your own refreshments, but these can be lunch, tea, supper or midnight snack, as the 2020 plays are available online (until 10 September).
We can watch for free, but with the increasing digital nous that has come to the cultural industry during the pandemic (and will surely continue beyond, as an additional revenue source), are invited to make a donation for a Festival Pass. (Although critics do not usually pay for tickets, it felt proper to support the theatre this way.)
