The narrator of this devastating half-hour (26 May) was a 60-something Alabaman named Anthony Ray Hinton. Sent to the penitentiary in 1985 for the murder of two fast food operatives, Hinton spent 28 years on Death Row while the lawyers wrangled about his case. It was all very well believing in capital crimes, he acknowledged. He had believed in them himself. But once the death penalty came knocking at your door, you changed your mind.
