The first tranche of this five-part celebration of the Pythons’ half-century (4 September, continues weekly) began with Michael Palin reporting from a subterranean lair beneath the Edgware Road. Here, stationed at the point “where two sewers meet”, he revealed he was on a quest to locate rare or previously unheard clips from the ensemble’s early days recently discovered by a “team of humour archaeologists”.
