“This is not a normal concert for us”, explains the Tallis Scholars’ founder and director Peter Phillips, “nor, I suppose, will it be for most of the audience. Compline is a uniquely meditative experience and sequence of music. It’s one that was established hundreds of years ago, and one that always works. I always find it very reposeful and the plainchant is a big part of that.
