The phenomenon of “the disappeared” – groups of citizens who vanish mysteriously and most often irretrievably during times of political unrest – has occurred in many countries, including Chile, Argentina and Northern Ireland. A new play at the National Theatre exposes one of the least-known and strangest examples of ideologically motivated abduction.
