Bo praises ‘silent revolution’


The leader of Myanmar’s Church has congratulated the citizens of his country for their commitment to democracy, writes Ellen Teague. Cardinal Charles Bo, Archbishop of Yangon, described Myanmar as, “on the threshold of hope and peace” after huge numbers turned out on 8 November for the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD). Bishop Declan Lang, for the English and Welsh bishops, said: “This is a time of great hope, for a nation that has suffered far too long.”
